A Dream or a Goal?

Dear reader, there’s a storm raging in my head!

A long time ago, I had BIG DREAMS; they were only ’DREAMS’ until I discovered what really was important. As long as there were ‘Dreams’, the world seemed exceptionally simple. My mind played infinite fantasies, echoed thunderous achievements, and breezed fragrant joys. I lived in a world full of sensitivity and serenity. There was nothing that could stop me from dreaming. But there came a day when I found out that the only HINDRANCE between my dreams and I was my own self. I began to learn that dream fulfillment isn’t possible without efforts, hard work, determination, hunger for achievement, and fueling the mind with the best.

All this awakening was pleasant until a thought shook me extremely hard. It was ground-breaking. The thought my mind provoked was ‘Why is a Dream needed at all?’ A dream is highly fragile when awakened from sleep. It is so effortlessly broken and indisputably forgotten that its loss doesn’t cause any damage. I then comprehended ‘a dream preserved as a dream will forever be a dream’. I cannot reach the destination by restraining myself from taking the least meager steps. This changed my mentality. I then transformed my ‘DREAMS’ into ‘GOALS’. I began working harder every day, every minute, and every second to help me get closer to my goals. So close that I will sooner or later grab the eternal success.

Dear reader, you must be thinking why I am beating around the bush. Actually, I am not. The story of my transformed state of mind is what helped me change. At the end of the day, the only questions that should echo in our minds are: How often do I talk to myself? How often do I listen to myself? Am I working on myself at all? You might affirm and say yes to all the above questions. And undeniably you might also be working harder; but is the outcome effective? Are you closer to your desired destination than you were yesterday? All the things that we do and all the actions that we take should eventually result in the attainment of the goal that we have built. We must learn to revolve around the same object until we learn to land firmly on it or prepare to endure the fall. My greatest emphasis is not on holding a goal rather the emphasis is on being ‘able to achieve the goal’. Become independently capable of learning and mastering everything that you do.

Frankly, I am among those who dislike relying on others for completing my own tasks. Anytime I need help I look up to myself and not up to those around me. The things I don’t know, I LEARN and do them all by myself. The truth is nobody on earth is going to work on you and for you in attaining your ambition. It is you and only you who can do so. Have the curiosity and eagerness to learn, to know everything that makes you the best of who you are. Gift yourself the ability to expertise, the ability to master the areas of interests. Turn yourself into a repository. Become unstoppable. Truly, the results are rewarding.

It is mandatorily important to be able to help others. Helping is undoubtedly a noble deed. But when you are failing to lift your own self up you will never become the one others would want to look up to. In this regard, there are two types of people I personally classify into, first – who are always in need of help and second – who are always sought after for help. The first category of people always tries to seek comfort through the hands of others. They never want to do things on their own; it is majorly because they are sluggish. They resist learning and perhaps lack motivation or enthusiasm in all that they do. And the sad part is they very easily give up.

And the second category of people is my favorite, also very rare to find. They never back off, never give up. They are eager to learn more and more. They are always ready to take challenges and exploring opportunities to get better and better. They never step back from helping. Not because they know everything but because they WANT TO learn everything. It’s not that these people are never in need of help, they do need help. They find ways of helping themselves out therefore they are self-taught. According to Isaac Asimov, “Self-education is, I firmly believe, the only kind of education there is”. When you begin to learn all by yourself chances are you will learn better and remember longer (shout out to Personal experience).

Dear reader ‘NOW’ is always the right time to do the things you want to accomplish. Tomorrow will only add on ‘to-dos’ to your everyday list. GET UP, MOVE AND DO IT. It only takes a second of courage. It is only a moment of determination and then things will find their way out. Thus, choose to initiate, choose to grow.
